Brand Your Business with a Great Name

We live in a world, where we identify everything by names. But have we ever thought what's in a name? What does name mean? Family names, friends’ names, creative names etc. and what does these names mean for our sense of identity? But it is true that we learn to define ourselves by the names we are given.

Likewise, name plays an important role in business too. A great name is the beginning of a great brand and creates a certain feeling when heard. When you name any business always think how you want people to feel when they hear the name of your business.

Write down the words on paper when some name clicks into your mind and categorize them by primary meaning. Then think about related words and phrases that evoke the feelings you want. You can also find all the synonyms for your words and phrases. You can find out the Greek and Latin translations of your words and figure out what colors, gemstones, plants, animals, etc., relate to your words.

Experimentation with different words can be another option. Play with combinations of your various words and partial words. Then review your list to give some thought to each name and make out how it feels when you hear the name. While deciding the name of your business always makes sure no one is using that name in your line of business. You can use the name in a completely different business, but be aware that it may create confusion for you and your business.
Regarding the suggestion of a name for new business, you can check the domain names if you want to make sure that an appropriate domain name is available. You can also search the internet. Even if someone doesn't have the domain and you still want to see what else is out there that has the same name. That doesn't mean you don't use it if you find something, but you want to know.

It is also suggested that while going to give a name to your company, also check the other existing company names in the similar fields. Never go for generic names as they're not memorable and are nearly impossible to trademark. Generic names describe the product or service, like Computer Consulting Company, Appliance Sales and Service, Inc., etc. For example: Joe's Bar, Sam's Hardware, etc.

After assuming your business name, register your assumed name or file your incorporation papers right away. Also, start using either trademark or service mark. For trade mark or service mark, you do NOT have to register them to use. Then get the domain and register your domain.

Finally, it can be said that starting your business is not an easy task and suggesting a name of the business is even more difficult. There are various types of business in the world and have various manes. While suggesting a name for a new business, one always has to keep in mind that the name which he or she is considering for the new business should be unique, at the same time meaningful. The meaning of the name should complement the business as well.
