Use Your Leadership Style to Make an Effective Business PlanPlanning has always been a leadership task. There are various types of plans and as a leader you will always create Process Improvement or Business Plans. Creating a Business Plan is quite simple and straightforward process. Essentially all you have to do is create a step-by-step set of instructions for it. It is suggested that you start by setting the review schedule first as it sends a clear message about what the planning is about and how this planning will help your business. To make an effective business plan, take a step back from your business and ask yourself certain strategic questions, such as what are you really selling? How do you want your customers to think of your business? What are you really good at? What do you do better than anybody else? What do your customers want that you are not giving them? But if you're more comfortable with numbers than concepts then it’s not a problem. In this case, go for a sales forecast. Break your sales into various components, such as: specific products, groups of products, channels or buyers etc and project it into units as: price per unit and cost per unit. You'll find that as you project your estimated sales, you're thinking about some of the core strategy questions above, and that will be implicit in your numbers. And when once you have a sales forecast, you can start tracking results that leads to your planning process. If you're a new company, estimate the new costs. That will include the expenses that occur before starting your business, such as legal expenses, fixing up a location, developing prototypes; and also the assets you'll need to start, such as equipment, starting inventory, and cash in your bank accounts. Always estimate your expense budget. On the other hand, if you like to make lists better than numbers or concepts. Then, start your plan with milestones, such as dates, deadlines, and business activities and how much they're going to cost or how much they're going to produce. People are different, therefore, start anywhere you like. This way through which you'll be able to see results quickly, and it will help you stay motivated when doing your planning. Finally, it can be said that for a business to be successful, there must be a clear vision of where the business is heading. Without a clear vision for the future, a company will never achieve any kind of success. Your company's vision can influence every major decision it makes, so it's important to take time to develop an effective business plan to assure the success of your business in the future. |
